Cybercrime is one of the biggest threats in today’s digital world, ranging from defamation, hate speech, and online fraud to serious offenses like system hacking and personal data breaches. In Indonesia, laws such as UU ITE and UU PDP provide a framework to tackle these crimes, imposing fines and prison sentences to deter offenders. However, enforcement remains challenging due to the unique nature of cybercrime, which often involves cross-border activities, the anonymity of perpetrators, and rapid technological advancements. To combat this, we need a collective effort—government policies must emphasize stronger cybersecurity measures and risk management.
